Harper County Community Development Launches Business Disaster Assistance Program for Harper County Businesses

Effective April 13, 2020, the Harper County Board of County Commissioners has approved a one-time grant of $2,000 for eligible businesses affected financially by the COVID-19 disaster. These payments are provided to lend a hand up, to help ensure our local businesses can persevere through these difficult times. The intent is to provide relief for Harper County Businesses in the quickest most efficient way possible.

Eligible entities are broken down into six main categories:  Food Service, Retail, Wellness & Personal Grooming, Repair Services, Hospitality, and Professional Services. If you are unsure your business is eligible, please complete an application so a determination can be made.

Funding for this program comes from the Community Development Budget, which is derived from Plumb Thicket Landfill revenue. Eligible expenses to be considered include payroll costs, insurance premiums, business inventory, utilities and rent or mortgage payments for the business. No personal expenses will be considered for this grant.

You can also request an application by contacting Melinda McCurley at 620-842-6030 or mmccurley@harpercountyks.gov. The deadline to submit applications is May 1st.
